Product Alert of Dexcom US G7 Sensors: Lots 1725204004 and 1725069002
25 June 2026
Dexcom is issuing a Product Alert for two lots of G7 Continuous Glucose Monitoring System (Dexcom G7) sensors. These lots were identified for disposal and destruction in the USA due to incomplete sterilisation and deployment failure during testing. The sensors were stolen during the disposal process and sold to third parties via unauthorised supply channels.
To date, there is no evidence that these affected sensors are in New Zealand. However, users should check the lot or serial numbers if they have purchased Dexcom G7 sensors from an overseas website.
Medsafe strongly advises against purchasing medicines and medical devices from unknown overseas sources.

Products affected
The Dexcom G7 is a wearable medical device that continuously measures glucose levels. It helps people with diabetes to monitor their glucose levels.
New Zealand Medical and Scientific Ltd, the company that supplies Dexcom G7 sensors in New Zealand, has not distributed affected sensors in New Zealand. However, there is a risk that some affected sensors may be in New Zealand if people have bought them from overseas websites.
This problem only affects the lot numbers listed in Table 1 below; no other lots are impacted.

What are the risks of using an affected sensor?
Risks associated with using affected sensors include:
- skin infections
- inaccurate or loss of readings
- missed detection of hypoglycaemia (low blood glucose) or hyperglycaemia (high blood glucose), which could lead to serious health consequences.
Is my Dexcom G7 sensor affected?
There is no evidence that the affected sensors are in New Zealand. However, if you purchased a Dexcom G7 sensor from an overseas website, check the lot or serial number to find out if your sensor is affected.
Check the lot number
The lot number is on the Dexcom G7 sensor outer box.
- On one side of the box, the lot number appears after the label LOT, as shown in Figure 1.
- On another side of the box, the lot appears after the label (10), as shown in Figure 2.
If the lot number on your Dexcom G7 box is listed in Table 1 above, the device is affected.

Check the serial number
The serial number is a 12-digit number used to identify your sensor. Dexcom has a webpage where you can check the status of the sensor serial number: https://g7.fsn-theft-check.dexcom.com/en-nz
You can find the serial number on the sensor outer box, on the sensor applicator, in the app and on the Dexcom G7 receiver.
- Sensor outer box (Figure 3). The 12-digit serial number appears after the label (21).
- Sensor applicator (Figure 4): Turn the applicator over to find the back. The serial number appears after the label (21).
- Dexcom G7 app (Figure 5): Open the app and go to Connections > Sensor to find the serial number, labelled SN. If your sensor is not currently connected, the serial number may not appear. However, if you use an insulin pump, your Dexcom G7 serial number might still be visible in the pump’s app.
- Dexcom G7 receiver (Figure 6): From the home screen, select Menu, then go to Information > Sensor > Session info. The serial number appears near the bottom of the screen, labelled SN.

Medsafe advice
We strongly advise against purchasing medicines and medical devices from unknown sources overseas. While websites and products may seem legitimate, there is no guarantee that the products will be safe and effective. They could be counterfeit, damaged, contaminated, stolen, made in unsatisfactory conditions and fail to meet regulatory and quality standards. Always ensure that you can verify the authenticity of products offered for sale through a means other than the website offering the product.
