Legislation
Controlled drugs are classified as either class A, B or C, as defined in the schedules of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1975.
Activities involving controlled drugs,
including for example possession, prescribing, supply and
administration, are more tightly controlled than other medicines.
More information on the classification of controlled drugs, their restrictions and other requirements are available in full in the Misuse of Drugs Act 1975 and Misuse of Drugs Regulations 1977.
