| Issue: | Hutt Valley DHB receive from USL Medical New Zealand supplies of pre sterilised single use 23cm Metzenbaum scissors for use in the delivery suite environment. (See photos) The packaging reads single use with single use sign and states Sterile/EO which is ethylene Oxide. It contains a lot number and an expiry date. That is all well and good ,however this is stamped onto a heat sealing flat sterilising pouch. The pouch has a coloured indicator strip on the outside which is standard to all sterilising pouches. This indicator strip is pink. It states that when exposed to EO the strip changes from pink to yellow. This strip has not changed colour therefore the pouch and contents are deemed to be UNSTERILE. Yet these items are being sold to DHB's and other providers in NZ.
