| Issue: | Tas-Tech has become aware that there is a potential for entrapment in relation to the use of these devices. A recent Coroner report has noted deaths where entrapment in these devices has been a factor implicated in the cause of death. In December 2018 Tas-Tech issue a Safety Notice emphasising safe practices when using these devices. This included advice on assessment of patients in home or healthcare environments. It instructed healthcare professionals to consider the potential risk for entrapment in relation to the patient involved, and to ensure that the particular device used is matched to the risk of entrapment for that patient. Tas-Tech is now issuing a Staged Product Correction implementing a retrofit to the single loop Bed Lever. This applies to all single loop Bed Levers with no anti-entrapment bar and/or rope & cleat fitted. |
