Advisor / Senior Advisor (Science), Product Regulation Branch, Medsafe

Medsafe is the New Zealand Medicines and Medical Devices Safety Authority and regulates therapeutic products in New Zealand.  In the Product Regulation Branch of Medsafe, we evaluate new and changed medicines against international standards New Zealanders expect their medicines to meet.

We are looking for an Advisor / Senior Advisor with the desire to contribute to the approval of safe and effective medicines and the expertise to evaluate the pharmaceutical chemistry aspects of the technical dossier provided by applicants seeking market authorisation.

This is a permanent, full time position located in Wellington.  There may be the possibility of flexible working arrangements for an ideal candidate.

This role will suit someone with an interest and understanding of the manufacture of medicines, the ability to pull together clear ideas and conclusions from large amounts of technical data, and excellent written and oral communication skills.

In this position you will be able to manage your own workload, be willing to contribute to a peer review system, and work as part of a well-motivated team.

The Clinical Risk Management Branch is responsible for assessing and managing clinical risk associated with medicines pre- and post-market. We provide clinical advice across all Medsafe work programmes. Our main activities are in the clinical assessment of medicines, pharmacovigilance, clinical trials.

As the Manager you will provide high quality leadership and direction, to a multidisciplinary and engaged team ensuring Medsafe is a key player in the provision of advice and a trusted advisor to Government. You will contribute to the leadership team to foster a cohesive, collaborative and whole of Medsafe approach.

Areas of responsibility:

You will be an experienced people leader, and have a medical, pharmaceutical or health sciences-related tertiary qualification. You will have worked in the health sector and ideally have an understanding of the regulation of therapeutic products.
